I was in Amiens, France for the eclipse, visiting my great Uncle Tom's grave, who died in 1916 in the great war at the Thiepval memorial.
Won't be visiting France for a while 😂

Ha ha. It's a REALLY odd experience, the solar eclipse, I think it was about 11 o clock in the morning and almost complete darkness. The odd thing was, it was one of those rare days with a light fog where you can look directly at the sun, through it.
Funnily enough, my sister was looking into our family tree and she found a grave in North Wales of our Great great grandparents, their son was 28 when he died but also had his name inscribed on their grave. I could just make out his name with M.M. as a suffix. I know that M.M. is a military medal, for gallantry, looked in the military archives and found him! He was awarded the medal for stretcher baring duties under heavy fire, was injured and sadly died a few days later. He's buried in Rouen, I hope to visit the grave of my Great great uncle one day, the reference of exactly where he's buried is available online. It's remarkable what you can find out if you do a bit of research😳.
Yes, even back in 1999, I used
To find my Uncle's location.
If you're ever at the Thiepval memorial, have a look at pillar13C for Thomas W. Hardcastle, Rifleman.
That's my Uncle!
