How will Nostr prevent infinite spam accounts, advertisers and bots? (Serious)

You can use there also your own domain as handle. And for comparision, what stops people to register infinite amount of twitter usernames/accounts?

Your domain name still needs to be registered in their centralized database, that was my point.

Twitter is not supposed to be an open registry, it requires email addresses, phone numbers, all with the purpose of preventing this kind of spam.

They'll probably implement IP-based rate limits for signups/posts, if I had to guess.

It seems like their usernames may be dangerous to reuse as well - just like an email address. If someone takes it over in future, they could perhaps cause problems.

Imagine a decentralised protocol that suffered from username squatting 😰

Not a problem on Nostr everything in data is the hex key, and never pointers or aliases are used in event references..
