We’ve been here before. Folks say they’ll finally move their asses and are tired of companies exploiting their data. They make the change, but one week later they’re back to the older platforms because they can’t tolerate not getting the same amount of engagement. 😒

Which means that the companies aren't actually exploiting their data. The companies are providing them with a valuable service (ensuring engagement and income) which is difficult to recreate elsewhere.
It took me many months to finally start using nostr not only to have an npub.
We need to be patient, same as with bitcoin adoption.
With time people will come.
I think we are well prepared for what a digital dystopia might look like.
I've said before that I prefer how manageable the network is here.
X and the other big platforms are Oceanic. Hard not to feel overwhelmed.
And increasingly, all the content and interaction feels artificial because of the tyranny of the algos.
