Cool thing to do in Costa Rica:
Northwest of the Arenal Volcano, there is a river called Rio Celeste. It is famous because there is a unique thing that happens at one point in the river where two branches come together. When the water mixes, it appears as a very beautiful blue color. In a nutshell, when the Buenavista River with its aluminum and silicon particles meets the Sour Creek, with its acidic waters, the resulting combination causes the suspended particles in the Río Celeste to scatter light, creating the turquoise color.
Pura vida!
