Sorting would be great, more flexible than lists even.

Or maybe you could assign someone your following with a specific tag that would classify why you're following them? Would that work?

That’s one way to do it but feels unnecessary restrictive. A free hand input text box is much more flexible and if made searchable would work great.

That would be my want. Make it super easy.
