This has to be a misunderstanding, right? Which linux user is going to:

1. Install a program by downloading a file from a random website instead of using the system package manager

2. Install something called "Free Download Manager". WTF?

Why bother making linux malware with this kind of attack vector?

How many linux users were caught by this? Was it a single 1, i.e. the security researcher from Kaspersky that investigated it?

Something does not add up in this story...

Might be pretty effective for the fresh new Linux user who is used to the "windows way", or the family member whose Uncle Jim helped them with their setup and they have no idea what they're doing just clicking on random links because "there's no viruses on Linux".

Just goes to show there are no limits to what scammers will attempt to prey on the uninformed or innocent.
