Does Canada have squatting laws like Australia? If you move into an abandoned house, keep it maintained and no one asks you to leave you can claim it after 10-15 years?
Those laws exist, but these old houses are on maintained land. Someone will notice and notify the owners. Then your ass is grass.
Certainly if the land is still in use then it's not an option. Abandoned and run down is another thing. Occurs here every now and then, usually deceased estates with no living relatives or they just don't care. If rather it go to some hard working person than the government.
