This tripped me up learning German, too. Nouns all have genders.
And literally the word “girl” is gender-neutral rather than gender-female, because let’s just make things as unintuitive as possible.

I agree. German is such a stupid language - no consistency and a hell of a lot of exceptions. I am happy that German is my mother tongue and feel bad for people that have to or want to learn it. Okay, that sounded more negative than I meant it.
Nah pretty easy. Correct German sentence:
Dass das "das", das "das" und das "dass", das das "daĂź" ersetzt, gleich klingen, ist verwirrend.
But german also has multitalents :)
and just when you kind of figure it out, it hard forks again when you start changing cases.
