being 'linux' does what linux does, I need to do a re-install when I get the time. I've never used Gentoo,. Any reason I should give it a try over mxlinux? Not that I have an issue with mx but its just time to rebuild
Discussion
Gentoo is nice because you build it yourself with what you need, remove bloat as needed.
Rock solid.
YOu can even get binary packages of mostly everything to minimize compile time
so sorta Arch-like, at least in the building sense?
Way better. Gentoo was first, then Arch. Chrome-OS even uses Gentoo's build system.
Arch is not reliable with it's community packages (AUR)
oh yea fuck arch, not a fan. I just meant the 'building' part. As much I am tech literate', Im equally illiterate so wasnt sure what you meant exactly. Im at the point of jumping ship to something BSD because Im sick of linux distro breaking from updates, but not really comfortable with all things BSD yet so want something more reliable/stable in the linux world
ah BSD .....hopefully everything you need will work on it. Linux has better support for everything
yea that's part of the issue with my possible switch. I've had FreeBSD of on old pc for awhile and really love it, but there is a lot more hands on as far as config goes, and not the easiest shit to find accurate help with online. I miss Windows 2K. Honestly my favorite OS ever. It just worked. No frills, no crashes, no bullshit
