It's been several hours, but I have a new case (and a now-caseless older computer) and I was able to boot into the Qubes installer.

I have no fucking idea why Qubes on a M.2 drive can't be just plopped into a new computer and be seen as a bootabke device. It works fine with Qubes on a USB device...

Backing up and restoring is very easy with Qubes, so as long as you back up before migrating, it's not that big of a deal, but I'm still annoyed. Given how my day has been going so far, it doesn't take much.

And as I was attempting to restore from backups, I found the backup drive has read errors which causes restoration to fail.

I was in a rush again, and this is the price I pay, again.

I just feel like I am so slow at things already that I can't afford to back my data up in duplicate or triplicate. Or to do a fake restore to verify the integrety of backups each time.

Apparently, I should just go slower, because now I am spending a bunch of time restoring things one VM at a time and keeping notes on which ones already failed, which ones build upon those ones that can't be restored and so forth.

I am just so exhaused by these setbacks all the time...

Yes, a screen that goes black and never comes back is just what I needed today. I'm signing off for the night. I don't want to keep bringing this level of negativity to #nostr.
