I'm not sure there's a more anti-theistic idea than that 'existence precedes essence.'

It seems to me that it's also illogical. What exists without an essence? That phrase just constitutes a universal excuse for whatever you want to do, i.e.. create your own essence. Kind of like "do what thou wilt is the whole of the law". It's satanic. Morality and human rights have no grounding if they are not anchored in the nature, i.e. the essence, of reality. There are only opinions and everyone has one under that scenario. The corrolary is that your life has no objective meaning.
