It's culture, collectivism, statism, fallacy, cowardice, and racial identity. The belief in race makes race play a part in it because of the underlying issue of conformity and collectivism. There are real discrepancies between races along various metrics because of these dynamics, but not because of some magical intrinsic properties to race exhibiting any homogenous degeneracy that can be easily separated from the other factors and remain consistent. The races might be "real" but they are transient and multifaceted. It's a poor explanatory tool compared with the way I look at things, and feeds into a fallacious worldview of ethno-collectivists from all corners, whether woke or anti-woke.
