True, the original 5th of November was more about religious divisions than the people rising against government control. But over time, it’s become a reminder of the importance of holding power accountable—whatever the reason behind it back then, today it resonates as a symbol for challenging authority. With the election landing on the 5th of November this year, it felt like a good day to remember that government should serve the people, not the other way around.
