I had some free time with the girls being a province away for a week. I took the opportunity to empty out my “go bag” to refamiliarize myself with the contents.

I hope I never need it. But if I do, all I do is throw on my boots and jacket, strap up, throw the bag, the girls” go bags, the hound and one waterproof tote in the truck, and leave. Five minutes tops. Good for 72 hours in the bush.

Any suggestions of what to pack... say in Coastal US?

I've yet to be comfortable with my list

Just start with water, warmth, sustenance, shelter, and security and the tools/supplies to augment these in the field and you’re good for 72 hours. For tools, I focus on cutting, chopping and pounding tools. A little 22 automatic. And a shotgun.

If you have the luxury of time, have anything for comfort or longer outings ready to throw in.

You’ll never have everything you need. But you can survive for X hours.

I have found that intermittent fasting is a good skill to keep in your back pocket. That way you won’t turn into a retard if you don’t get three squares for a while. You won’t even miss a beat if you have to just make distance for the first day.

Makes a ton of sense

Thank you for taking the time to outline that way of thinking
