New law (2025): Dormant exchange accounts (3+ years no activity) get transferred to state custody just like forgotten bank accounts.

• Reclaimable forever

• Held as crypto (no forced sale)

• ONLY on exchanges (custodial)

• Self-custody wallets? Totally safe!

It’s seemingly consumer protection, not government grab although some California politician will certainly try and do something stupid with this law.
