Instead of "following" and "global" icons in the menu, maybe just "feed". There you have many feeds that you can choose from or create your own.

Clicking "feed" on the menu once takes you to the latest opened feed and twice to the feed selector.

You could have an "interesting stuff" feed by a local algorithm. Or you could have feed that shows everything from 1 relay that curates from a larger dataset.
