I feel like old people mute their phones to avoid calls and end up missing half of the fun.
Is this why kinds don't remove their AirPods anymore?

eh, i like to think of {airplane mode} as my filter for half the bullshit that distracts my day’s flow
I started muting once my kid was born. Trust me I feel better this way. Never going back.
Old people? I see young people not answering to their phones. They are scared to hear some unknown voice
My daughter is 23 tomorrow and my phone has been on mute since before she was born. Do I count as old? There's nothing more rude than, when in the midst of conversation, a person will drop it and ignore you, then start talking to someone on the other end of the obnoxious little black rectangle. Height of bad manners. I'll see who's called and get back to them, when it's suitable. Nothing is ever so urgent that I must be spoken to there and then.
I just don't like sounds happening that I don't want to happen. Well within my control at least.
I don't mute my phone. I simply keep it away from me when I'm working. Sometimes, I turn it off…
Also, I have more than one. My family phone is always near me; only my children have the number, and it only rings when they call.
