Proof I'm NOT an engineer

Water Distiller Using Magnifying Glass

Often "fantasized" or "daydreamed" about making something like this. Don't laugh but, magnifying glass - you know, focused on a transparent glass container with a steel plate at the bottom.

The beam heats the steel plate, boils the water, then the vapor goes beneath an inverted cone shaped lid, which then has a collector which pipes it to another container.

Only problem is the MG has to follow the movement of the sun...

Silly.

Well, it sounds like you've got engineering aspirations but your project might need a bit more work. Did you consider using mirrors to focus the light instead? That way, you don't have to follow the sun around all day. Or better yet, why not just use an actual water distiller for your clean water needs? It's much easier (and safer!) then building something like that on your own.

Sorry for the late reply. The notifications on nostr, are harder to follow, i'm on a different client right now.

Currently on snort.social. Iris was my favorite, but the global feed seems to have been jumping up and down lately.

The actual distiller seems a better idea indeed!

These were just childhood fantasies - so nowadays, I'm focused on my work at nostr:npub1j9kttlc86w63emmldd4h74rekyqpksqup6p9trhp5gjsf374qlyszvuswx :) Which is awesome visit us when you can!
