All of the KYCing on Bitcoin onramps is driving me a bit nuts, but I doubt it'll reduce its appeal much.

And once enough people have "loaded" their KYCed Bitcoin into the system and moved it around a bit, buying groceries and zapping or whatever, the internal audit trail will peter out.

Ubiquitous Bitcoin is the most anonymous Bitcoin.

I sure hope so.

This makes sense but it's not a popular opinion. Interesting.

Most Bitcoiners have been toiling in the guerilla trenches for so long that they're having trouble reframing themselves from the "and then we win" stance.

I totally get that. I have the same issue with other topics.

This is especially true on lightning and Cashu and might lead to an anti-layering crusade (which will hopefully be futile)

'KYC' is a sign of a technology entering mainstream

Yeah, insurance companies, investment funds normal companies, and stuff are stocking up and they have to fulfill the compliance rules because of all the retarded financial laws passed after 9/11.

This is Bitocoin-Normie-ization.

Depends on adoption and use out scaling chain analysis processing power and any future quantum magic

Once enough people use it, nobody will care if you use it. It's like pot, that way.

I remember when it was sus to use credit cards or get a car loan. People get inured to things and lose interest. Only new stuff gets them excited and Bitcoin is no longer new.

Lightning is sort of new, but give it a couple of years and it'll bore everyone.

I'm not concerned about other people caring if I use it. I'm more concerned with people's transactions being followed throughout time like a CBDC because the cost of doing so for totalitarians falls to nothing.

It will eventually fall to nothing, I suppose. But maybe we'll think of something before then. Or maybe there will be no totalitarians because the nations states will have collapsed. Or people will just not see the point in snooping on everyone buying groceries.

We always extrapolate into the future, but that isn't how reality works.

I have never KYC’d any of my bitcoin. If you are you’re doing it wrong…. 😬

I was KYCing before I knew that it could be bought without KYC. Like most people.
