There are models that allow both “freedom” and “making a living” to exist, I.e: open source your infra, but allow PAID accounts and subscriptions using your hardware, higher upload limits, transcoding, whatever.

Running a service is work. I just like to build the stuff. Running it for more than just myself is a huge liability I'm not sure if I really even care to make money.

Right, gotta make money to live though. 😂

Either means having an income from said work, or working less on it (getting a side job instead).

I work FOSS full-time so an income is a necessity to continue.

Yep I totally get it. I have a normal engineering job that has nothing to do with coding
