If Keet (p2p messaging app) implemented lightning network and a Umbrel app, I will try convince my family to move over from Signal
Discussion
What makes it better than Signal? I thought Signal was the way to go since it is pure E2E
It is. But the bloody phone number requirement 🤦🏾♂️
Ah, yes, that is the one downside. But linking a burner number is a good workaround.
Im hearing they may introduce usernames at some point, not sure if you are still required to have a phone number though
Indeed, I heard about it too. Let's hope they won't implement another fluffy feature before then
Signal has potential to be great, but looks like they’re going down the shitcoin route 😕 at least its better than WhatsApp
Not only WhatsApp, but all other competitors. Signal is the best mainstream messenger by far. Ask Zuck or SBF 😂
If they self-destruct following bad decisions, the open source code will still serve us. getsession.org has already exploited it, and that's good.
Its encrypted too but is completely serverless, runs p2p so no middle man. You can also transfer files through it with no size limit. just drop it in and its viewable to everyone in the room immediately, its crazy how good it works with just being in alpha. Has lightning integrated now and because it doesn't connect to servers it punches through nat and firewalls atomatically.
I’ve been playing around with Keet, it’s actually pretty cool. And works really well.
Bitcoin community is in support of it (at least on twitter), do you have any idea if they’re planning on implementing lightning?
I have no idea, but I think it would benefit Keet to implement lightning, a p2p messaging app with no sensitive info needed to get started. It’s like #plebchain dream, lol. Would bring a lot more users over to Keet.
Been messing with Keet for a while now and it just keeps getting better. Regular updates and devs that actually listen to what their community is saying. Still in alpha but works better than most other apps even though its completely serverless and encrypted. I believe it already has lightning implementation but umbrel integration would be awesome!
