You can add proof of work to the leaderboard so it is atleast a little more genuine 😛
I might ditch the "leaderboard" and instead have a list of "most recent ATH" regardless of score. Show more recent activity.

My internet connection sucks. It's pretty much unplayable for me, too much delay between clicking and flapping
Your connection speed shouldn't affect much, it's downloaded and played locally. I'm working on caching for the Nostr events and picture elements too, which will help on slower connections.
