I think a more accurate name would be the "Conflict aversion gap". For example, I don't think Trump supporters in the corporate setting keep their mouths shut because of shame... I think they keep their mouths shut because they don't want to deal with the condescension and moral superiority that'll be aimed their way if they talk. It's the same instinct that might make you cross the street to avoid a crazy person making a scene
