This is easily the wildest and heaviest big-band funk release of the 1970s. Equal parts Lalo Schiffrin and Sun Ra, it features a wide array of the sort of instruments you'd normally find on an exotica record, along with Moog, guitars and a fat, FAT horn section. I have the quadraphonic version on vinyl but sadly have never had the chance to listen to it through a quad system. Still, even in stereo it's one of the coolest records I own.

Four albums and a comp were released under the Mandingo name but, while all a great, "Primeval Rhythm Of Life" is easily the best.

Very big sound to wake up to! There's that big 1970s escapade movie vibe and now I know who Geoffrey Love was. Thx
