Been making up some bushcraft and survival kits. Adding a few Bic mini's to my current kits. They are such a nice size for adding to kits. Also removed the child Safety device and added a zip tie to protect it from accidentally discharging the gas. #edc #bushcraft #survival #firestarter.

Small kit I'm building using a tin that had mints in it. Tried waxing some Q-tios to use as a fire starter! They work great, need to add a few to this, along with a few other things. q

Sometimes I hate the way it works when you upload a photo, then it jumps your cursor here is the photo

You must have a couple of these kits right?

Yeah I keep a couple various kits around.

Small water tight aluminum cannister, fits a Bic mini and a few waxed Q-tips... Rolled the q-tips in paper to prevent wax from getting everywhere. Picked these up on Amazon they are a bit bulky for pocket carry.

Now wrap it in electrical tape to provide even additional tinder. #prepstr

Hey man, that's a nice little kit. What all you got in there? I see some

-Cordage

-Lighter

-Cotton pads

-Cotton swab

-Tweezers?

-Is that a condom underneath everything?

What is the little piece of metal sticking out the the bic near the striker?

No condom or tweezers. There is a ferrocium rod and a piece of hack saw blade for the striker. I might add a razor blade to more easily cut some of the cordage and the cotton pads. I'm really digging the Q-tips as they are like a torch or long burning match to light other things. I need to make a video about it I suppose.

Oh cool, I played around with putting a ferro rod in a kit like that but I could never find one that was the right size. The obviously have the added benefit of being waterproof.

Is the container itself waterproof?

👀

If you want to guarantee fire, you need the old stuff, real flint & steel & the older methods.

Then you need to know what works as tinder.

It's all well & good to have modern methods but they don't last.
