Somehow it seems to be in the interest of the GOP to get rid of Trump politically as quickly as they can so they can work on the next election.
They probably just trying to delay it after the midterms because that’s too much political risk.

It's not clear to me what a post-Trump GOP would even look like....
Unlike neoconservativism, which (to quote Walter Sobchak) "is at least an ethos", there's no intellectual foundation to Trumpism other than some real dark Brone Age Pervert stuff about monarchy, I guess?
So the next GOP candidate... "Vote for me and I'll be King of America!!"
