-THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE-

THE WRITER is a mechanical doll built in 1774 by Swiss watchmakers Pierre and Henri-Louis Jaquet-Droz.
It was made from more than 6,000 precision parts and still runs today. The automaton dips its quill into ink, moves its eyes, “breathes” (by making its chest rise and fall), and even writes fully programmable text of up to 40 characters.
It was basically an 18th-century robot that predicted handwriting machines centuries before typewriters and computers.
