How do I easily create a private mint for my circle of friends and business partners?

Can members of mint A transact with members of mint B?

Hey Bryan, start here: https://support.fedi.xyz/hc/en-us/sections/18214787528082-Federation-Setup

Reach out via the Support mod on the Mods page or at support.fedi.xyz with questions along the way.

Yes, a user of Mint A can send bitcoin to a user of Mint B via Lightning just the same way you would between any two Lightning-enabled wallets.

I have a multisig set up, run a LN node with 50+ channels, a bitcoin node, but doubt I can figure out how to safely start a mint….

I am not trying to be negative, but the FEDI project has been portrayed as ‘simple’

- a “village leader” could easily set up a multisig, fund the mint, and add members

- the everything app for bitcoin

On the contrary, I suspect hardly any “normal” person has the technical ability to safely run a mint.

I want this project to succeed…but, in my humble opinion, it has been over sold and its currently not delivering.

I will watch BTC sessions guides…I want it to work, but I keep hearing things like “bitcoin is already capable of scaling to 8 billion people with current tech.”

Maybe it will be soon, maybe FEDI helps…I hope so….but that day is not today.

I will keep researching.

Thanks so much for sharing this honest feedback Bryan! Your points are valid and they are definitely not lost on us.

We believe the underlying technology is there and very powerful - but we understand it’s not yet simple and easy to use.

This creates an accessibility barrier that requires significant UX improvement to overcome so that Fedimint can scale.

We & others are working tirelessly on this in an effort to make the freedom protocols that Fedi is built on universally accessible.

Thank you for the response. I am pulling for your success. Thank you for building on Bitcoin.

🙏

If you’re technical, you can do it yourself. If not, others like nostr:npub1rxysxnjkhrmqd3ey73dp9n5y5yvyzcs64acc9g0k2epcpwwyya4spvhnp8 are setting up white glove services to help linked below. And yes - members of mint a can transact with mint b - (transacts through lightning) and seamless for users.
