Meh, it’s fine. First off NZ takes about three weeks to validate the election, so they only knew the final numbers for MP’s a bit over a week ago. While I voted green, and we did well, Labour and National aren’t ALL that far apart.

New Zealand is a very high trust and stable place, it’s part of why I chose it. There’s a backlash against Maori in part because there’s been a huge change in the last couple decades atoning for the sins of colonialism and trying to construct a better more inclusive society. Also NZ net has a turn over where every year %4 of the native born population leaves, usually Australia, and that’s replaced by %6 of new immigrants, who are allowed to vote with residency. Basically the immigration and demographics means that folks pandering to racism and a political platform have a rapidly shrinking base.

National knows this, which is why they don’t want to open that pandora’s box. They just dog whistle it.

Here’s a good video about the recent election, and the caretaker PM and incoming PM… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgEVXUconL0

And yet the world still turns and the sun still rises in the East.
