Nostr Web Client

My wife and I are going on a three-week excursion to Vietnam Cambodia and Thailand in April, and I have decided to go commando, leaving all of my Apple devices at home bringing only a burner Android device (an old Samsung phone). I am in the process of setting up my Lightning wallets, nostr clients, etc. It should be great learning experience. Right now I am using the Amethyst client which is working beyond my expectations to bring along my money and social graph. The picture below is from our last trip to Morocco where I tried to do something similar, but now I feel like I have the right tools.

Not sure how mobile data packages works there but most nostr clients are pretty data hungry atm. Maybe Amethyst devs are able to make some kind of data-saving mode where you don't need to pull all the data that you pull today. E.g. pull only from a small set of relays while on a mobile network connection, disable automatic pull of reaction events, etc.

You can turn of relay function like global etc so it does not pull all spam

Yeah but even in your own following feed, you'd probably want to restrict what data you pull from relays. Maybe you'd even want to disable the global feed entirely. I'm not sure how the event pulling tactics work on the different clients though.

Yeah kill global. And there are 4 different to turn off i think. Im on iris now, don't remember 🤪

That probably helps a bit but I'd still don't want to pull reactions and the global feed on a small data plan subscription.

I use a paid relays proxy + filter.nostr.wine + my umbrel (for backup, I just write) I think that way I can get good coverage but I'm testing, studying ways to improve and avoid spam
