So I'm catching up with podcasts that released yesterday today, and I just heard thist story on The Linux Experiment's podcast (I didn't even know he had a youtube channel lol), but apparently people in France have been arrested for using encryption, tor, and tails. The source article is in french, but has some choice quotes from the prosecution:

>“All members contacted were taking on clandestine behaviour, with increased security of communications (encrypted applications, Tails operating system, TOR protocol allowing anonymous browsing on the Internet and public Wi-Fi). ”

>“All members of this group were particularly suspicious, communicated with each other only through encrypted applications, in particular Signal, and encrypted their computing media. ”

I have no idea if the accused are guilty, or what they are even possibly guilty of (The article even says the police have no solid proof they are conspiring to do anything), but this might result in some not so desirable legal outcomes for the French people!

Replying to myself for some more context, they were already under investigation for something else. Possibly actual terrorists. Still could have privacy implications, but IDK anything at all about French politics, or their social climate, to believe one thing or another at face value.

Podcasts and their consequences have been a disaster for the human race.

I normally try and contain myself before commenting on news stories I just hear about, and sure enough, it looks like I may have defended literal terrorists. Lmao. Now I want to buy some books about French history.
