I donโ€™t understand how it can possibly mean that though? Because religion and gov are commonly tied together thatโ€™s why religious orgs are tax exempt where I live for example (USA) and in Europe religious taxes posed by governments are p normal like โ€œchurch taxโ€ in Germany I mentioned earlier. So I do not get it. Especially when you factor in the plethora of religions that donโ€™t have churches at all and religions that venerate political figures like Freemasons tend to go nuts for Benjamin Franklin

I'm the US church are tax exempt because the law doesn't apply to them, not because it does. the law applied to everything except the exempt things. the establishments clause is the reason, in the case of the church

remember also, this hasn't always been true. there didn't used to be these taxes

read the 501c

in* the US

Thatโ€™s not accurate. The law still applies to them thatโ€™s why 13909 IRS complaint forms existโ€ฆ.. have you never reported a church to the IRS before? I do it all the time lol

Iโ€™ve made a handful of prosperity gospel losers lose their tax exempt status with that little piece of paper ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

the complaint form helps to demonstrate that it's not exempt, and that the law applies.

My use of the word โ€˜shouldโ€™ was very intentional. Religion and government *should* never be tied together, especially in America.

Your post doesnโ€™t say that religion and government shouldnโ€™t be tied together though, regardless of that, governments and religions are tied together both in the US and allover the world

My post doesnโ€™t say that because I intentionally worded it that way, knowing most people would see it and know what I meant, whereas religious folks would either interpret it to their own view or get triggered by my intended meaning. Seems to have worked well.

People that donโ€™t know how governments operate or what the word โ€œreligionโ€ means maybe know what youโ€™re talking about like the person who was under the impression that laws donโ€™t apply to churches at all in the USA (also funny to me because most religions donโ€™t even have churches lol)

I have a degree in the history of religion in the ancient near east, but go on.

Also, yeah, that guy was just straight-up wrong about how tax exemptions work.

The guy that was wrong agrees with you though so youโ€™re saying youโ€™re wrong lol bye

No, Iโ€™m saying his understanding of how that law works is wrong.

I already pointed that out, bye again!
