On amythest at least (cant speak for damus since i dont use it), quotes have another function to pull specific replies out of the thread and highlight them directly on the main feed.

Most my followers likely wouldn't ever have seen what you wrote, buried in the thread. Now they see it directly on their feed.

Yes and the algo on Xitter does this automatically for us.

Whereas we have to be the algo we want to see on the nostr.

Agree - If you want to live in a human directed world then you, as a human, must be conscious of these choices and take on the responsibility of making those choices.

If you're cool with algos shaping human culture then go ahead and continue to let them drive.

Freedom isn't free. And let's be honest, having to make a concious decision between a quote vs reply is not exactly a high price to pay.

The question is who do YOU want to see what you’re saying, the person you’re replying to or your followers? If it’s the person you’re replying to then use a reply. If it’s your followers then use a quote post. If it’s both, then reply and repost/boost your reply.

Yeah I'd agree with this. It's not about one being better than the other since better is subjective. Your intent should determine the optimal action to achieve it. Not right not wrong just what it is.
