Why?
You might feel safer if you are privacy oriented. It is nice to share a mint with frens, and the more frens, the more anonymity liquidity. It is also nice to pay zero sats when you are zapping others who use the same mint. Custom address is also lovely. I really enjoy minibits. I greatly dislike that Alby and WoS know everything. Only takes one slip . . .

Alby and WoS work well enough for dorking around on nostr.
They do, right up until you get rugged and doxxed to the gubermint. 🥲
Nothing on WoS or alby is worth that much effort. (Intentionally.)
Different strokes for different folks. I don't keep much in mints either. For me it is worth learning to use the tools before the hectic adversarial environment tries to assert its authority.
Mistakes cost less currently . . . Maybe.
Have you reported all your zaps as taxable income? . . .
