I don't know what happened to Nostr, but it seems many people prefer to give a like over a zap now. I remember, back in the days (lol), when there was a movement called only zaps.
What happened? Did Apple destroy it with their ban of zaps on Damus?

Probably. Apple is too big and popular. They can shift culture and subculture just by banning something, building something, or having a bug in something.
Predicted this over a year ago. Long before apple banned zaps.
