Magma are about as deep as prog gets and drummer/leader Christian Vander's bizarre sci fi cantata, equal parts Carl Orff and John Coltrane, sung in the entirely made-up language of Kobaian and spread across 12 albums (so far) must rank as one of the strangest works of art of the last 500 years.

I found a lot of prog esp. magma and van de graff quite difficult to listen to initally, I'm much happier in the Berlin school type vibe. This is great lore, I don't know anything lol. It's like exploring an alien world

Yeah, they're not easy by any stretch of the imagination. I love Van Der Graff but can only take so much of Pete Hamilton's voice. Magma are just flat-out weird and I was a bit indifferent toward them until I saw them live - I've never seen such talent out in service of such insanity.
