Extrapolating from the trials, I would be surprised if we didn't see a massive population reduction on earth between now and 2050.
That was going to happen anyway. Peak global population was predicted to be a bit over 10 billion by about 2035, followed by a decline to 8. Something over the following decades. IIRC
