so people use monero, but they call them maps 🗺️

Monero is actually kinda cool tbh. Lot of smart ideas rolled out in it.
some clients will roll it out
expecting to see a lot more experiments with nostr
Totally. I feel like the Maxi's have a point but also miss a lot of other cool things at times. Monero had a lot of the same principles of Bitcoin, but went further with the security/anonymity. I also found the Monero community really open and helpful on any Blockchain, Bitcoin or crypto questions I had.
#[6] What's your general stance or take on Monero?
Always sort of liked a lot of what the project was getting at.
They good peeps over there so I’m told
Indeed. The Monero community taught me a lot about other adjacent privacy-enhancing tools, practices, protocols, & services outside of anything crypto related.
Definitely check out @sethforprivacy and his podcast "Opting Out" for a ton of good info on increasing your privacy in the digital age, especially if a lot of this stuff is outside your wheelhouse - he's a great explainer & offers useful information on getting off Big Tech, KYC, and apps for protocols, FOSS alternatives, and self hosted options for everything you do on the daily.
Monero community is awesome to me as a paranoid and private individual. Good peeps!
Monero is great as a transactional function, I mentally frame it as a privacy layer for bitcoin's value to flow through as needed. Hold wealth in BTC, use Monero for certain purchases. For instance Silent.Link NoKYC phone numbers.
It is the only other interesting thing in the broader market worth caring about. If Monero's chain didn't exist, humanity would worse off - dissidents and people living in totalitarian hellscapes having the technical ability to perform commerce privately is good. Too much risk using Bitcoin if your life depends on being anonymous.
I also *LOVE* using Monero to buy Bitcoin on Robosats. Having no ties to any of my accounts or usernames, Strike, CashApp, Zelle, etc is phenomenal. And with 2 minute block times & instantly seeing the transactions in your wallet, Monero makes a wonderful MoE.
I'm a Bitcoin maxi and I adore Monero's value proposition. Truly private, fungible e-cash is a benefit to humans - ideology be damned. You don't have to invest or hold it to use it briefly. Its liquidity could be better but hopefully nostr, Robosats, and other P2P exchange platforms can improve that. Monero is hilariously what what most normies/nocoiners think Bitcoin is.
