I used to be a "form collector", I have learned two different variations each of the wu, yang and hunyuan styles of taichi.

In truth, I spent little time working consistently on my fundamentals, so I only practiced what people call "empty forms." 😔🤭

Now, I mostly do a lot of standing (zhan zhuang, wuji standing) in my solo practice, and push hands and body mechanics during my regular weekly classes.

Where to start, you ask?

Find two different teachers, research the system they are teaching, pick one, and stick to it. Spend the first three years working religiously on the fundamentals of the system.
