Tonight we celebrate #Yalda Night. Yalda is an ancient winter solstice festival. It is the longest and darkest night of the year. After which the days grow longer and nights shorter.

Yalda is the story of triumph of light over darkness.

Even the darkest and coldest night will not last forever and better days will come eventually.

It also marks the eve of the birth of #Mithra the Sun goddess. Yes, Persians were Sun worshipers before the Zoroastrian era and the sacred fire.

Traditionally people come together and share the last remaining of fruits, nuts and wine from summer and celebrate till morning. It was meant to protect the people from evil forces -Ahriman-during the long night.

May light illuminate the path for all.

Happy Yalda
