Yes, I use [JMP](https://jmp.chat/) with Gajim for sending SMS and making phone calls, and I carry my laptop with me pretty much everywhere. I currently stick to Wi-Fi, but I'm considering buying a [Pocket Reform](https://www.crowdsupply.com/mnt/pocket-reform) with a modem so I can use cellular data too. That would be really expensive though.
