Lighter fluid soaks in the charcoal and is part of the cook as the charcoal burns down.
I burn mine all the way to grey. Does that matter?
No. The lighter fluid soaks into the briquettes. Parts of it get released throughout the whole charcoal burn.
Lighter fluid is mostly butane, with a very high vapour pressure even at room temperature.
It will be gone very quickly, would need GCMS to detect the traces after one minute...
