Still working on my 2023 album of the year list of course (which is really just my personal favorites of the year). Every year I end up doing a kinda rudimentary one for no real reason other than amusing myself and making a record of the bands I enjoyed listening to during the year.
This year, I'm also including a separate list for EPs, and I'm also determining the top album(s) for different genres, as I thought that would be the best way to narrow down the top album per couple of genres (since it's often tough to compare apples & oranges when it comes to top albums among wildly mixed genres).
It's TOUGH to finalize the list, too, but never because I can't find ENOUGH good albums-- it's always that there are TOO MANY good albums to choose from 🤣 (especially after next month, when my list of 20 will be full, and I might need to make some tough decisions if any more great albums get released later in the year 😨).
I just wonder if this resurgence of great new bands and music (not even to mention badass bands that existed before and are still recording and performing) will continue. I hope so. It's cool to see so many people out there are making so much amazing music.
