So how then I get to see the pics uploaded at nostr.build .. while I can't attach pics from say my Google drive ! Or even desktop hard drive !
Media servers must be doing something special to be nostr compliant !

Yeah they bring something special. They bring child porn to this platform.
Nostr is awesome because it makes censorship resistant text and notes very accessible. Consorship resistent media is a VERY dangerous thing to associate with these text notes. Being able to just switch to a relay in a different jurisdiction is great for avoiding censorship... until hosting things that are illegal in EVERY clearnet jourisdiction comes a core part of the protocol.
The fact that Nostr primarily concerns itself with regular text is an intentional decision from its developers in order to enhance its censorship resistence. Do not think that Nostr can resist every censorship law. It can only resist ones that aren't ubiquitous on the clearnet.
I see your point " text only " is a great choice .. any other media format is kinda perversion , cuz it opens the easy doors to sensory pleasures .. you can do that in text too but it is hard ! ..
But my question is what makes nostr.build special verses any other media repositories ?
