Yeah I think you’re right.
Raising kids and building out high-quality curriculum for them (and to share with others). Raising livestock so my family has food security. Building a big park in my back yard. Sculpting stone. Documentary film making. Lot of stuff I’d like to do before my time is done.

Lately I’ve been starting to think more about helping to build a citadel community somewhere. The community, food security, natural food and health benefits etc.
Society is increasingly dysfunctional. Becoming increasingly clear that we need to take matters into our own hands now.
I was thinking about buying a large acreage in a remote but beautiful part of the world. Close enough but not too close to civilization. Build for my family and friends and just invite others to join us if they can.
What’s holding me back from jumping into a bigger project is that I’m unsure in which country to put down “roots” — are there any free countries left?
I’ve spent a lot of time and resources becoming globally mobile. I saw with shock and sadness how many countries swung to socialism and authoritarianism over the last few years. Countries that I once thought of as “free countries” were some of the worst. I wanted the ability to go anywhere to avoid more craziness as this fourth turning progresses.
So now I’m mobile and unsure where to stay long term.
Or maybe help build a few in different countries?

We’re thinking about similar things. I’m not sure where to go and the next few years it’s one of my missions to find a good place to put roots down. As you know it’s a difficult problem and something that changes from epoch to epoch.
It’s good to know others who are working on solving these hard problems. We can share info here and increase what we all know to hone in on the best solutions available.
Yep. Maybe there needs to be a website for people to discuss and rank different solutions for housing, electricity, fresh water, sewage, etc. and get organized, create a set of open source plans 🤔💭
Here’s something I’ve been looking at. 👇They have a 44ft dome version which is 1500 sq ft. Not sure how much it is, but the 36ft version is quoted at $22k. Maybe some of those panels could be replaced with solar panels.

I’m wondering if a complete solution could be found for $50k - $75k per family, not including the land.
Ideally everything would be cookie cutter and scalable. Someone would find a raw piece of land and then start the project with a couple families. A team of specialists would arrive to prepare the land and train the residents. As new families sign up, hopefully it would be straightforward to just add another dwelling. After X families, add another tank, water well, whatever.
With a pre-vetted set of products and systems (solar, water, sewage, etc) maybe costs would be lower and everything easier to maintain. 🤷♂️
So many cool products out there. I wonder if this or something like it can also handle the sewage from the home.
And you can be bitcoin mining when you’re not using the biogas for cooking 😉
