Are you following them? Because if you don't and the spam is still there, it will fall into the filter yet again when you restart.

I'm not following them.
If you follow them, you are marking them as safe and the app ignores the filter. If not, the app thinks these are just random people spamming you. We still need to develop other safe lists and so on..
Perhaps if a certain threshold of people who I follow also follow the account in question, that can override the spam filter.
That works as well. The only side effect is having to download your follow's follows but it shouldn't be too much (though for people that are following more than 1000 folks, it might slow things down)
Don't you already download reports from follows? I don't think this would be any worse.
We do, but reports are MUCH lighter than follows. Follow download is the reason some people's profiles are slow to load. There's just too much data coming in. Reports are super tiny in comparison.
1000 report events is more data than one follow list with 1000 profiles. I report like a madman, and follow cautiously.
Correct. But very few people report 1000 other folks. 99% of people in Nostr never reported anyone.
