Fact! It’s just more efficient converting energy to the wheel movement. 🐶🐾🫡

No suprises, and when sodium based batteries get opportunity to shine after some more development, it will be game changer for all EV and other electric devices.

If the parts can be recycled and the energy green then without doubt.

It’s probably true, but who cares?

What difference does it make? None.

Locking the planets climate into an interglacial high to suit human comfot, is a problem for future humans who will have nuclear fusion and 10’s of millions of robots in LEO.

It’s not a problem for today. We have more immediate problems to figure out.

Not sure what you mean by “locking climate” or what it has to do with LEO objects

The climate used to change, thats why the planet had ice ages, etc.

We’re now trying to stop that, and “lock” the planet into an interglacial high.

An unstable quasi- ice age status, because that’s what best suits humans.

Kinda arrogant, but also pointless to try it now. Why not just do that when we have the means to do it easily?

Climate changed naturally over a long time. Thousands of years.

What we do now is happening on a fraction of that scale.

If these events are unnatural, then we are not really trying to “lock” ourselves into anything, rather trying to slow to what would have been if we didn’t screw around in the first place.

I do agree that it would be arrogant to stop natural climate change over the thousands of years that it normally took place. But we’re not doing that.

I would make the argument that the current stage doesn’t actually best suit humans. With some more C02 in the air, the earths poles will warm and we can flourish in even more area.

False. Petrol is kinetic energy stored chemmically while with electric cars you first have to convert that kinetic energy into electricity and then back into kinetic. An additional conversion brings more inneficciencies, and that is before counting in the 50% weight gains because batteries are heavy as fuck. This brings more load on the tyres, they need to be replaced more often, as well as the roads themselves.

Electric cars have been around before ICU cars and its always just one battery breakthrough away. If electric cars were so great, they would not need subsidies.

Interesting points. Seems not true, but I’d be curious to investigate claim about tire changes.

The data from fishcakes’s video doesn’t support your claims. Not sure about tires, but I doubt those are any major sources of emissions…

They are mostly made out of carbohydrates… what happens with all of the tyre? A small fraction is recycled because it is energy intensive. How many tyres are changed per year?

Just think from base principles. EVs are a lot hevier because energy density per kg of battery is less than that of wood. Heavier vehicles = more energy used to change speed and direction.

And raising the average weight of a vehicle by one third does what to depreciation of roads? Ever seen what a poorly maintained bus lane looks like?

So many things in a complex system that it is impossible to say if it is better or worse. What I do know is that they are more expensive than ICE vehicles even with massive subsidies.

They are fun toys and have interesting applications in car sharing in cities which is not possible with petrol cars.

My favourite car is a 1976 Celica that I put a 2l straight 6 twin turbo in. I love the power, but it was the sound I'd miss. So apart from the phat exhaust sound I'd go electric any day.

Seems like most renewable energies are a product of governmental regulations, subsidies, and interference.

The free market did not choose these technologies as a result of their superiority in any way.

What does that have to do with emissions?

Do plebs like us even know what goes behind closed doors in regards to petroleum usage deals? For all we know the market is lot all that free 🤔
