I agree. I wrote a paper on this topic in school. The problem is that they’re not asking the right questions. They keep feeding AI larger databases and they are becoming smarter and more efficient. But is information equivalent to consciousness? No. When ChatGPT gets more advanced in the next few year, the question to ask is what changed? All they can do is give it more information. But that’s not consciousness. It’s a fun sci-fi topic, but they are attacking this problem from the wrong angle.
