For somebody who will be using a custodian, at this point buying an ETF that uses Coinbase seems better than buying BTC on Coinbase.

Seems that way, though maybe only for short or medium holding periods.
The real custodian play would be to buy on Fidelity and then transfer to Coinbase for long term storage haha
