The girls are finally laying again after their winter break.

I will be buying new chicks this spring in hopes of a steady supply next winter.

I've been happy that mine having been laying all winter here. Glad you are getting eggs again.

My girls were on their second winter, so their molt put them into self-care mode until recently. 😁

Beautiful colors on these eggs. What kinda chicken

My Ameracauna gives me the green egg, the light cream comes from my Barred Rock. I will be buying breeds that give me more colors this spring because the colored eggs make me happy. 😁

I just took care of friend's sheep and chickens and now want at least chickens for real and soon. That silent bubbling and clocking from the coop is one if the best sounds I've ever heard.

Watching chickens help you relax. They are entertaining. And provide breakfast! ❀

If you want a steady supply through winter you need a light on them that kicks on a few hours before sunrise. That'll keep then laying eggs.

True, but we try to work with the rhythm of nature, so I give them their break and grumble when I have to buy eggs from the store. πŸ˜†

I know a guy that’s hatching buff orpingtons right now.

Me too. Me. 😜

If you ever want to trade chicks to keep genetics diverse, let me know. I’ve owned over 20 breeds of chickens and Buff Orpington are by far my favorite.

This is exactly how we landed on Buffs as well. Wanted it to be Barred Rocks so badly though..

I’m not opposed to a trade in the future at all.

What types/breed of chickens do you have? I’m hoping to start my own coop soon.
